ok, fryers, this week's post is a slight departure from our typical culinary adventure.  if you haven't heard of outstanding in the field, you need to click the link, join their mailing list and get there next season! every spring, the crew from oitf loads up their vintage coach bus and travels coast to coast partnering with local farms and local chefs to create more than eighty unique farm to table dinners in some amazingly scenic locales. we went to two local events this season. first we traveled north to kinnikinnick farm, just south of the wisconsin border, where publican chef brian huston served up an incredible meal including a delicious shrimp boil and some of the best peach pie you've ever tasted! we had such a great time at kinnikinnick, we asked the oitf crew if we could photograph their chicago event at city farm with chef paul virant of perennial virant and vie restaurant. trust us when we tell you it's far better to attend these events as a guest than a photographer...especially on an empty stomach! a big thank you to oitf founder jim denevan and leah scafe for letting us hang out at their city farm event, and to paul virant's team for sneaking these underfed photographers a sausage or two!
